St.John's (Antigua), Sep 2 (CNMSPORTS): Michael Muirhead is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), the board confirmed on Friday.

A WICB statement said Muirhead will not be renewing his contract and will officially demit office on October 14 this year, reports a news agency.

The 59-year-old Jamaican, who has been the CEO for the last four years, is leaving a position that has changed hands several times in the past decade.

"The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) would like to announce that Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Michael Muirhead will not be renewing his contract and will officially demit office on October 14 this year," said the brief statement from WICB.

Muirhead described his time with the organisation as "insightful, challenging, interesting and an eventful period," the WICB release said.
