July 17 (CRICKETNMORE) - BCCI today announced Sanjay Bangar as the assistant coach and re-appointed Bharat Arun as the bowling coach till the 2019 ICC World Cup. Bharat Arun is a former Indian cricketer who represented Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and has a successful career as a coach.

As a Cricketer

Arun played 2 test matches and 4 ODI for India in mid-80's (1986-7-87) with modest success. He had 4 test and 1 ODI wicket. However, he with much success for Tamil Nadu and was a prominent member of the Ranji Trophy winning side in 1987-88.

As a Coach

# His coaching career started with Tamil Nadu in 2002. Under his guidance, Tamil Nadu reached the finals of Ranji Trophy twice, in 2003 and 2004 respectively.

# Became the chief bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy in 2008

# Became the coach of India Under-19 team and helped them win eight consecutive series victories, followed by the U-19 World Cup triumph in 2012.

# In 2014, he was appointed as Kings XI Punjab’s bowling coach where he led the team into the final of the IPL

# Appointed the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team in 2014, with Shastri being the team director.

Arun's first assignment will be the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, when the Indian team lands there on Wednesday for three Tests, five One-day Internationals (ODI) and a solitary T20 International, starting July 26.
