England cricketers Joe Root, Anya Shrubsole, Callum Flynn and Dan Lawrence have been honoured as the the best players of the 2015-16 season at the England Team Awards dinner this evening.

World number two ranked batsman Root has a hat-trick of awards with both the Test and Limited Overs awards for England Men, while also scooping the fans’ choice for England Men’s Player of the Year.

It was the second year in a row Root has won the England’s men’s award recognising a 12-month period which saw him score two centuries in England’s Ashes triumph last summer, four ODI centuries and finish the recent World T20 tournament in India as his side’s leading run-scorer. 

Somerset’s Anya Shrubsole won the England Women’s Cricketer of the Year award for the first time.

The Disability Cricketer of the Year award recognised the starring role Callum Flynn played in helping the England Physical Disabilities squad to victory in the inaugural Physical Disabilities World Cup in Bangladesh last autumn.

Essex batsman Dan Lawrence won the England Development Programme Cricketer of the Year award.
