Joe Root Plays 100th Test Match; Becomes 1st Player Do So
England captain Joe Root is playing his 100th test match at Chennai. Root has become the third-youngest player to play 100 test matches and the 15th English cricketer to do so. Root has made 8249 runs in 99 test matches before the Chennai test, which includes 19 centuries and 49 half-centuries.
Alastair Cook holds the record of being the youngest player to play 100 test matches - at the age of 28 years and 353 days old. After Cook, Sachin Tendulkar is the next player on the list - 29 years and 134 days. Joe Root played his 100th test at the age of 30 years and 37 days.
