Cricket Australia fines BBL franchise Perth Scorchers ()
Melbourne, 14 November (CRICKETNMORE): Cricket Australia (CA) on Monday announced that Perth Scorchers have been fined following a breach of the salary cap rules applicable to the fifth edition of the KFC Big Bash League (BBL).
"Scorchers breached the allowable team retainer pool of $1.3m by $5,000. CA Code of Conduct Senior Commissioner Gordon Lewis AM determined Scorchers be fined the minimum penalty of $150,000, with $145,000 suspended pending no further breach of the team retainer pool rules for five years," CA said in a statement.
In reaching this decision, it was taken into account that Scorchers self-reported the salary cap breach to CA.
