Bengaluru, May 2 (IANS) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir on Saturday said even though they lost their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB), he was happy with the performance his side put up on the day.

In a rain curtailed 10-over-a-side match, KKR managed to notch up 111/4 but the hosts powered their way to the target with seven wickets and two balls to spare.

But Gambhir said he was quite pleased with the performance of the Knights.

"We still are happy with the performance, Andre Russell was brilliant again, overall we have played good cricket so far and it has been a great effort from both the bowling and the batting unit," he said after the match at Chinnaswamy stadium.

The skipper is also hopefull of a turnaround in fortunes very soon and was dejected about the fact that the showers affected three of their games.

"Unfortunately we had two rain-interrupted games apart from the washout where you can't do much about it. We need points for us to stay strong on the table. We still have a few more games to go, hopefully we can turn it around," said Gambhir, who scored 12 runs with the willow
