London, Dec 24- Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan was named the player-cum-director of Masters Champions League (MCL) side Capricorn Commanders.

Commanders is co-owned by Bollywood actor Sohail Khan and Parvez Khan, a prominent Dubai-based business tycoon. The six-side MCL Twenty20 cricket tournament for retired players will begin from January 28 in Dubai, according to a release.

commanders also boasts of two-time World Cup winner Andrew Symonds, Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, former England skipper Paul Collingwood, Sri Lanka's Chamara Silva and South Africa's Ashwell Prince and Rory Kleinveldt among others.

Vaughan will be joined by former England cricketer Usman Afzaal as assistant coach.

"“Michael Vaughan and Usman Afzaal need no introduction in the world of cricket, and by having them play for our team, we hope to continue to share our passion for the sport.”

Several former Indian cricketers, including Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag will also compete in the tournament.
