Kolkata , Nov 24 - India's Under-19 batsman Washington Sundar who scored a steady half-century to help his side win by four wickets against the Bangladesh U-19 side, said he felt the pressure when he came out to bat but he knew he had to stay out there in the middle.
Chasing Bangladesh's total of 222/7, India were in a spot of bother at 116/4. But Sundar steadied the innings and ensured that by the time he got out his side was in touching distance of the target.
"When I came out to bat, I was feeling a bit of pressure. But I knew if I applied myself and stayed out there in the middle I’l get runs. And that is what I did. But I was disappointed with the way I got out, I should have batted till the end," Sundar told reporters here after the match on Tuesday.
"Sundar who usually opens the batting was told that he would come sixth down last night and the left-hander said that gave him time to prepare himself mentally. I was told last night that I would bat sixth down, so I had time to prepare," he said.
Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hassan Miraz who top scored for his side with 87 and picked up two wickets, said he was not disappointed with the loss as they gave the hosts a run for their money which has boosted their confidence.
"We are not disappointed with the loss. We ran them (India) close so it is a great boost to us before the World Cup," he said.
