Colombo, September 1 (CRICKETNMORE) - An unbeaten century from skipper Angelo Mathews backed up by a steady knock from Kusal Perera (70) helped Sri Lanka post 249/6 at tea on the fifth day of the third Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground here on Tuesday.

However, India pulled things back at the end of the session as off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of Perera, breaking a 135-run partnership. Mathews and Rangana Herath remained unconquered on 110 and 3 respectively in their chase of 386.

India still require four wickets to win whereas the hosts need 137 runs to clinch the contest

1st Innings (India) :  Opener Cheteshwar Pujara  unbeaten 145 and Amit Mishra (59)  help India to Score 312 in 100.1 overs in the first innings.For the hosts, Dhammika Prasad (4/100) and Herath (3/84) were the pick of the bowlers.

2nd Innings ( Sri Lanka) :  Ishant had figures of 5/54, as the hosts were bundled out for 201, in reply to India's first innings total of 312. Kausal Perera (55) and Rangana Herath (49) was most successful batsman for Sri Lanka. Stuart Binny (2-24), Amit Mishra (2-25) and Umesh Yadav (1-64) also bowled superbly.

3rd Innings (India) : Ravichandran Ashwin (58), Rohit Sharma (50) and Stuart Binny (49) help India to score 274  in their second innings. Mishra (39) and Ojha (35) also contributes with bat.Pacers Nuwan Pradeep and Dhammika Prasad clinched four wickets each for the hosts. Earlier, the hosts scored 201 in the first innings in reply to India's 312.
