New Delhi, Dec 7- Delhi Daredevils have parted ways with head coach Gary Kirsten, the India Premier league (IPL) cricket franchise announced on Monday.

The former South Africa batsman and ex-India coach, was appointed in 2014. India won the 2011 World Cup under his stewardship.

However, his tenure as the Daredevils head coach was disappointing. They finished last in the 2014 IPL and managed to win just five of the 14 matches in the 2015 IPL, failing to qualify for the play-offs and finishing seventh in the eight-team tournament.

Kirsten succeeded Australian Greg Shipperd as the head coach.

"Gary with his rich coaching experience made significant contribution towards our team culture and his work ethics were immaculate. We appreciate his contribution towards our team rebuilding process and would like to wish him the very best in all his future endeavours", Hemant Dua, CEO, Delhi Dardevils said in a statement on Monday.
