The cricketing world has witnessed many funny on-field incidences and yet have never failed to amaze the viewers. A new video where a batter scored 5 runs without a boundary has left the fans in splits, and established that reality is actually stranger than fiction.
This happened at a local cricket tournament, where the batting team needed 5 runs off the last ball to win the match. If the batter had smashed a six or a four, he would have won the match for his team or at least tied it. However, the batter had different plans as he mistimed a pull shot.
The ball went straight to the fielder on the on side and he ran with the ball in his hands and dislodged the stumps at the striker's end. However, the batter was inside the crease at that end and the fielder threw the ball towards the non-striker's end.
Unfortunately, he missed the stumps from a close distance and the ball ran towards the boundary, where another fielder collected it and threw it towards the keeper. Till then, however, the batters had completed 5 runs and won the match for their team.
The fielder's misjudgment cost his team a tight and thrilling match as the batters displayed great presence of mind by completing the 5 runs.
