IPL Auction 2021 Venue; Mini Auctions date 18th February 2021
The preparations for IPL Auction 2021 have now begun. It is understood that the next season of IPL will be played in India. IPL 2020 was rescheduled to UAE due to the lockdown restrictions in India.
Earlier, IPL mega auctions were to be held for IPL 2021 season in December 2020. However, since IPL 2020 was rescheduled late in the year, the mega auction has been canceled for the next season.
There will be no mega auction for IPL Auction 2021, iplt20 auction 2021 - which is held every three years, however, there will be a mini-auction taking place.
According to reports, the mini-auction for IPL 2021 Auction is scheduled to take play in the second week of 18th February in 2021. On January 20, the IPL franchises were asked to list the players retained and released from their respective squads. The IPL mid-season transfer trading window will remain open for at least 10 days till 1st February 2021.
The last Mega IPL Auction was held back in 2017 when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) returned from their two-year ban. The teams always prepare their team according to the three years between the two mega auctions.
The 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to be held in April 2021, with eight teams participating in the tournament.
