India will continue to enjoy no.1 status irrespective of series results. However, India can gain points and increase the lead from No.2 team South Africa if they win all three Tests against Sri Lanka.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka have bright chances of improving their rank if they win one or more tests in the series.
