Wellington, Feb 5 (IANS) New Zealand coach Mike Hesson Thursday said the two bilateral series victories against Asian stalwarts Sri Lanka and Pakistan was an ideal preparation for the World Cup.

"It's been great preparation but we need to refresh physically and mentally and then go again," Hesson was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.

New Zealand beat Sri Lanka 4-2 in a seven-match series, following it with a 2-0 victory at home over Pakistan.

The Black Caps batsmen were in sparkling form and clobbered bowlers all around the ground. Asked if a tougher examination was required to test the players, Hesson said: "Not really.

"We've won key moments. Guys have had to bowl at the death under pressure and we've had to chase medium and high scores. We've had to bat first in challenging conditions at times,” added the 40-year-old.

New Zealand start their World Cup journey Feb 14 against Sri Lanka at Christchurch.
