Kolkata, April 7 (IANS) Calling for a stop on suggestions that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) performs well only on turning tracks, skipper of the defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday hoped the Indian cricket board's diktat for preparing sporting wickets was consistent for all venues.

"Preparing a sporting wicket is fine. People have been talking about KKR preparing wickets for spinners but we have been consistent even playing away from home," Gambhir said ahead of Wednesday's IPL opener against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens here.

"We would not have won the IPL twice playing only on turning tracks. We have proved that we are a very consistent side winning 14 games on the trot. So people should stop staying that KKR wins only on turning tracks. I hope the BCCI's warning is consistent and it is consistent with every curator."

Talking about the Eden wicket, Gambhir said it was difficult to gauge the nature of the pitch as it is a freshly laid surface.

"It's a fresh wicket and it's the first game of the tournament, so we don't know how it will behave. We will go by the look of the surface. Over the course of time we will get to know how the pitch behaves," added Gambhir.
