England tour of Pakistan 2022
England are set to tour Pakistan from September to December 2022 to play three test matches and seven T20Is. The test matches, scheduled to be played in December after the T20 World Cup, will be a part of the World Test Championship.
On November 21, the Chief Executive of England and Wales Cricket Board went to Pakistan to amend the relationship between ECB and PCB after England's tour of Pakistan in October 2021 was cancelled. After positive talks, the number of T20Is were increased from five to seven
The seven T20Is would be played first, in September before the T20 World Cup. In July 2022, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja confirmed that the T20Is will be played in Lahore and Karachi. The schedule for the three-match test series was later announced in August 2022, which will be played in Rawalpindi, Multan and Karachi.
In the T20Is, England and Pakistan have faced off against each other in 21 matches. England have managed to win 13 out of these while Pakistan lags with 6 wins. One match had ended in a tie while one produced no result. This will be the first time these two teams will square off against each other in a T20I in Pakistan.
While in 86 test matches, England has won 26 while Pakistan has registered wins in 21 test matches. A total of 39 matches between the two teams have ended in a draw. The last time these two teams faced off in tests in Pakistan, Pakistan won the three-match series 2-0 with one match ending in a draw.
