Jan. 16 (CRICKETNMORE) - Melbourne Renegades wicketkeeper Peter Nevill sustained a suspected fractured jaw when he was hit in the face by Adelaide Strikers bastman Brad Hodge's cricket bat.

The bizarre incient took place in a Big Bash League match on Monday, when cricket bat accidently slipped from Brad Hodge's hand as he aimed a big hit at a short ball from Thisara Perera. The Australia international was taken to hospital for X-rays after the incident.

Nevill, 31, was understandably trying to pick up the flight of the ball when instead he was struck by the errant bat which had slipped from Hodge's grip during the failed run chase. Melbourne Renegades won the match by six runs.
