BCCI has announced the dates for the 2017 Indian Premier League on Wednesday. Eight Teams will participate in the tenth edition of this popular event. Lets look at the winners of the previous 9 editions of the League:

IPL 2008

The inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was won by Rajasthan Royals. Under the leadership of Shane Warne, Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets in the final to lift the trophy.

Shane Watson (Rajasthan Royals) was adjudged as the player of the tournament. Sohail Tanvir (Rajasthan Royals) won the purple cap for being the top wicket-taking bowler while Shaun Marsh (Kings XI Punjab) won the orange cap for leading run-scorer in the tournament.

IPL 2009

Due to General Assmbly Elections in India, the second edition of the IPL was held in South Africa. It was won by Deccan Chargers. Under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist, Deccan Chargers beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 runs in the final to lift the trophy.

Adam Gilchrist (Deccan Chargers) was adjudged as the player of the tournament. Matthew Hayden (Chennai Super Kings) won the purple cap for being the top wicket-taking bowler while RP Singh (Deccan Chargers) won the orange cap for leading run-scorer in the tournament.

IPL 2010

The third edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was won by Chennai Super Kings. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 22 runs in the final to lift the trophy.

Sachin Tendulkar (Mumbai Indians) was adjudged as the player of the tournament. He was also awarded the orange cap for leading run-scorer in the tournament. Pragyan Ojha (Deccan Chargers) won the purple cap for being the top wicket-taking bowler.

The fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was won by Chennai Super Kings. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 58 runs in the final to lift the trophy.

Chris Gayle (Royal Challengers Bangalore) was adjudged as the player of the tournament. He was also awarded the orange cap for leading run-scorer in the tournament. Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians) won the purple cap for being the top wicket-taking bowler.
