Jan.25 (CRICKETNMORE) - Scotland and the United Arab Emirates have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in the final ODI in the tri-series in Dubai on Tuesday.
Manu Nayar, the ICC Match Referee imposed the fine on both Scotland and the United Arab Emirates sides as both were ruled to be one over short of the target when time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
As such, Scotland’s Kyle Coetzer and the United Arab Emirates Rohan Mustafa have been fined 20 per cent of their match fees, while both sets of players have received 10 per cent fines.
If either Scotland or the United Arab Emirates commit another minor over-rate breach in an ODI within 12 months of this offence with Coetzer or Mustafa as the captain of their respective team, it will be deemed as a second offence and they will face a suspension.
Both Coetzer and Mustafa pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
The charge was laid by on-field umpires Akbar Ali and Nitin Menon and third umpire Alex Dowdalls.
