West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bat. Half-centuries from Jason Mohammad (59) and Shai Hope (71) had helped West Indies post 233 for nine.

Mohammad Amir, Junaid Khana and spinner Shadab Khan took 2 wickets each for Pakistan.

Chasing the victory target of 237, Pakistan suffered early blows and were put on the backfoot by West Indies bowlers with 36/3. The fourth wicket stand of 113 runs between Mohammad Hafeez (81) and Shoaib Malik (101*) took the match waway from West Indies.
