July 14 (CRICKETNMORE) - South Africa's star batsman Hashim Amla achieves another personal milestone of scoring 8000 runs in test cricket. He reached the milestone with a powerful pull shot off Mark Wood in the second test against England at Trent Bridge on Friday. Amla scored 78 in the first innings before being dismissed by Broad.

Amla became just the fourth South African batsman to go passed 8000 runs. Jacques Kallis (13206), Graeme Smith (9253) and AB de Villiers (8074)  are the other three South Africans to have scored 8000 runs.

Amla has 26 centuries and 33 half-centuries to his name.
