England trail India by 39 runs

Manchester, Aug 7 (IANS) England were batting at 113/3, trailing India by only 39 runs, at the close of play on Day 1 of the fourth cricket Test being played at Old Trafford here Thursday.

After bowling out India for 152, the hosts did well to lose only three wickets in the final session of play.

Ian Bell is batting at 45 not out while Chris Jordan is yet to get off the mark at stumps.
