March 26 (CRICKETNMORE) - Bangladesh thrashed Sri Lanka by 90 runs in the first ODI in Rangiri Dambulla Stadium on Saturday. Asked to bat first by the home side, Bangladesh post 324/5 in 50 overs. This was their third highest ODI total.

Opener Tamim Iqbal scored his 8th century of the career before being dismissed for 127. He hit 15 boundaries and a six during his 142-ball knock. He was well supported by Shakib Al Hasan (72), and Sabbir Rahman (54)

In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 234 in the 46th over. Only Dinesh Chandimal (59) and Thisara Perera (55 of 35 balls) showed some fight with the bat in the innings but Bangladesh score proved to be too much for the team. Left arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets for Bangladesh.

Overjoyed by teams victory, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza said, "That was almost a perfect game for us. The lineup was probably the best ever fielded by Bangladesh".
