Christchurch, Feb 23 (Cricketnmore): Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after an exchange with umpire Ranmore Martinesz which took place just before lunch on the fourth day of the second Test against New Zealand here on Tuesday.
Hazlewood has pleaded guilty to the offence.
The fine was imposed on the right-arm pacer for "showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match" as he was caught swearing when his lbw shout against batter Kane Williamson was confirmed not out by the Decision Review System (DRS), the Cricket Australia website reported.
Hazlewood and his teammates believed they had Williamson out in the last over before lunch, but when Smith called for a referral after the original not-out ruling, third umpire Richard Illingworth ruled ball had hit the bat before thudding into the batsman's front pad.
The 25-year-old's comments were caught by the stump microphones at the non-striker's end.
