London, July 17 (IANS) England pacer James Anderson became the most successful bowler at Lord's and on English soil on the first day of the second Test against India here Thursday.
Anderson went past former English fast bowler Fred Trueman, who had 229 wickets on English soil, to become the most successful bowler on English soil when he dismissed India opener Shikhar Dhawan.
Trueman, who played his last Test against New Zealand at Lord's in June 1965, has 229 wickets from 47 Tests in England at a fantastic average of 20.04. Anderson surpassed Trueman in his 55th Test in England.
