Imran Khan Allahabad Cricket Story (imran-khan-played-cricket-allahabad-forgotten-1984-classic)
There are cricket grounds that became famous because of Test matches, international tournaments or great performances. And then there are grounds whose place in cricket history is secured by a single extraordinary afternoon.
For Allahabad, now Prayagraj, that afternoon came on 26 February 1984, when Pakistan captain Imran Khan walked into the Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium to play a benefit match for an Indian cricketer.
It was not an India-Pakistan international. There were no championship points at stake and no official record to be created. Yet, for Allahabad's cricket lovers, it became one of the most memorable sporting occasions the city had witnessed.
