BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe - Zimbabwe beat Afghanistan by six wickets in the first of four ODI series on Friday. this is the first bilateral series of Afghanistan against a test playing nation.

Sean Williams' 70 from 65 balls guided Zimbabwe to a comfortable victory as they reached the target of 224 with with nearly five overs to spare.

Williams shared a 93-run stand with captain Brendan Taylor (43) and 85 with Elton Chigumbura before falling with his team just short of the target.

Earlier, Afghanistan made 223/9 in their quota of 50 overs. Samiullah Shenwari (65) & captain Mohammad Nabi (54) were the top scorers for the team. 

The second ODI of the series will be played on 20th July.
