The Surrey batsman, who represented England Lions this summer and played a key role in helping his county to the NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day earlier this month, is the only uncapped player in the squad but Tim Bresnan, Ravi Bopara and James Taylor make a comeback to the side.

Eoin Morgan will lead the English team in the absence of regular captain Stuart Broad, who is to undergo a knee surgery Sep 4.

"This one-off NatWest International T20 provides us with an opportunity to look at players who have impressed recently in domestic cricket and gives them a chance to test themselves on the international stage against high-quality opposition," national selector James Whitaker said.

"I would like to wish Eoin Morgan and his squad all the very best against a strong Indian side."

England are currently 0-2 down in the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series with the first ODI being washed away.
