The Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo is more than a venue for cricket matches; it is part of Sri Lanka’s cricketing identity. Known simply as SSC and often described as the ‘Lord’s of Sri Lanka’, this elegant venue in the heart of Colombo has been at the centre of Sri Lankan cricket for decades. It is the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket, the home of the country’s most prestigious cricket club and the stage for some extraordinary performances.

Now, SSC is entering a new era. Floodlights were installed recently ahead of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, and there was even a proposal to play a pink-ball Test between India and Sri Lanka here in the present series.
