मौजूदा बॉर्डर-गावस्कर ट्रॉफी में रोहित ने 6.20 की औसत से सिर्फ़ 31 रन बनाए हैं, जिसमें उनका उच्चतम स्कोर 10 रहा है। उन्होंने दो मैचों में नंबर 6 पर बल्लेबाजी की और जब ये उनके लिए कारगर नहीं रहा, तो उन्होंने खुद को फिर से ओपनिंग स्लॉट में शामिल कर लिया, लेकिन उनका ये पैंतरा भी टीम इंडिया और उनके काम नहीं आया और फॉर्म में चल रहे केएल राहुल को नंबर 3 पर भेजना टीम इंडिया को भारी पड़ गया।
