Golf: Thorbjornsen Wins Rocket Classic With A Super Show In Detroit
PGA Tour University: Michael Thorbjornsen, who entered the week in 69th place on the FedExCup standings, secured his place in the FedExCup Playoffs with a win at the Rocket Classic. The top 70 advance to the postseason after next week’s Wyndham Championship, but the 24-year-old Thorbjornsen is assured.
Thorbjornsen won the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur over Akshay Bhatia, who has three PGA TOUR wins. He went straight to the PGA TOUR in 2024 as the No. 1 player in the PGA Tour University ranking.
The Indian-origin players, Akshay Bhatia, who missed the cut, Hero-supported Sahith Theegala, Aaron Rai and Sudarshan Yellamaraju, will also be at the Play-offs.
