India’s Grandmaster Divya Deshmukh Joins Norway Chess Women For 2026
“I’m incredibly excited to be competing in Norway Chess. It’s my first time in the country, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what Norway is like. See you all there!” Divya said in a statement released by Norway Chess.
In 2025, Divya won the FIDE Women’s World Cup, earning her the Grandmaster title and a spot in the 2026 Women’s Candidates Tournament. At only 19, she became the fourth Indian woman to achieve GM, highlighting India’s rising prominence in international chess.
