Italian Grand Prix: Pierre Gasly secured his maiden Formula 1 pole position in a thrilling qualifying session at the Italian Grand Prix, edging Mercedes' George Russell and McLaren's Oscar Piastri to the top spot at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
In Q3, the Alpine driver managed a remarkable last lap of 1:21.786, overtaking Russell and Piastri to secure his first pole position in Formula 1.
The achievement came after Gasly, who won his first F1 race at Monza in 2020, had been running close to the front during the entire Saturday qualifying session.
