WPL 2023 Points Table: Delhi Capitals Cruise To The Final; Mumbai Indians, UP Warriorz To Face Off In Eliminator

Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz will clash against each other in the eliminator for the 2nd final spot.

WPL 2023: After clinching a 5-wicket win in the last league stage match of Women's Premier League 2023, Delhi Capitals have qualified for the final of the inaugural WPL. Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz will clash against each other in the eliminator for the 2nd final spot. 

After being put in to bat first, UP Warriorz batters Alyssa Healy (36) and Tahlia McGrath (58*) made useful contributions as the team posted 138/6 in 20 overs. Alice Capsey picked up 3 wickets while Radha Yadav registered 2 wickets. Jess Jonassen also managed a wicket.

In reply, Delhi Capitals comfortably chased down the total with 13 balls and 5 wickets remaining. Marizanne Kapp and Alice Capsey were the top scorers with 34 runs each while Meg Lanning (39) and Shafali Verma (21) also contributed. Shabnim Ismail picked up 2 wickets for UP while Soppadhandi Yashasri and Sophie Ecclestone managed 1 wicket each. 

With this win, Delhi Capitals have finished the league stage with 12 points i.e., 6 wins in 8 matches. Mumbai Indians also have 12 points but were slightly behind Delhi Capitals on NRR. UP Warriorz finished 3rd with 4 wins in 8 games and qualified for the Eliminator, to be played on March 24th (Friday) in Dr DY Patil Sports Academy.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants finished on 4th and 5th respectively with 2 wins each in 8 matches. The final will now be played between Delhi Capitals and the winner of MI vs UPW on March 26th (Sunday) in Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
