WATCH: Axar Patel's Gritty 42*(24) Against LSG In A Losing Cause

DC vs LSG IPL 2022: Axar Patel once again displayed his excellent T20 batting skills. Even though he failed to finish the match for Delhi Capitals against Lucknow Super Giants, but played an innings that kept the hopes for a win alive in the hearts of Delhi fans till the last over of the match. 

Batting at #7 while chasing a huge target, Axar Patel came on to bat as Delhi Capitals lost their top scorer & captain, Rishabh Pant (44) at the end of the 13th over. Delhi required 76 runs to win in 42 deliveries as the left-handed batter came out to bat.

Axar Patel smacked an unbeaten 42 runs off 24 balls with a four & 3 sixes. With 21 needed off the last over to win, Axar was on the non-striker's end. Kuldeep smacked a six on the first delivery against Marcus Stoinis, who was bowling his first over this season. 

Axar finally came back on strike for the third delivery after a wide and a single. However, Axar failed to score a run in the next two deliveries. With the equation down to 13 runs in 2 deliveries, the all-rounder needed two sixes to take the match to the super over.

However, the batter yet again played a dot ball on the 5th delivery and then smacked a six on the last delivery but the match was already lost till then.

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul won the toss & opted to bat first against Delhi Capitals in the 45th match of IPL 2022. With fifties from KL Rahul (77) and Deepak Hooda (52), CSK were powered to a total of 195/3 in 20 overs. All three wickets were bagged by DC all-rounder Shardul Thakur. In reply, DC managed 189/7 in 20 overs, with captain Rishabh Pant (44) being the highest scorer. For LSG, Mohsin Khan picked up 4 wickets and led LSG to a 6-run win. This match was played at Wankhede Stadium, Pune.
