New Zealand left-arm pacer Neil Wagner praised the Bangladesh duo of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mahmudul Hasan Joy for putting a gritty and patient 104-run stand for the second wicket on day two of first Test at Bay Oval on Sunday.
After dismissing New Zealand for 328, Shanto (64) and Joy (70 not out) led a strong Bangladesh reply with 175/2 at stumps.
"Full credit to the Bangladesh batsmen. I thought they played really well. They showed a lot of patience. They showed a bit of fight. It is a pretty tough graft out there. It is just a good days' hard and tough Test cricket. We fought and toiled really hard," said Wagner in the virtual press conference.
