This incident happened on the 5th delivery of the 16th over. Pollard was batting at a personal score of 3 runs and looked in a mood to provide a good finish to MI innings. However, the Caribbean player failed to time the shot to perfection and the ball failed to achieve desirable height and distance. The ball went towards the mid-wicket region, where Tim Seifert was fielding. Seifert made an excellent sideways jump towards his left and grabbed the ball with both hands while being airborne, dismissing Pollard on a low score.
