SL vs IRE: After a fine unbeaten half-century by Kusal Mendis, Sri Lanka started well in the Super 12 match against Ireland with a 9-wicket thrashing win here at Hobart.

Sri Lankan batters came to chase a low target of 128 runs, Kusal Mendis continued his last match form and nailed unbeaten 68 runs in 43 balls including 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Mendis along with De Silva scored 63 runs opening the wicket partnership and giving a solid start to their team. De Silva got 31 runs off 25 balls with his bat including 2 fours and one six.

In the end, Charith Asalanka provided a match-winning partnership of 70 runs where he smashed 31 off 22 deliveries.

Irish bowlers weren't able to put any contingency to win. They seemed colorless as the team only got one Lankan wicket. Gareth Delany was the only bowler to get a wicket in the form of Di Silva.   

Earlier in the first inning, after winning the toss, Andrew Balbirnie came to bat first where Paul Stirling scored 34 runs in 25 deliveries with 4 fours and 1 six and gave a good despite losing the skipper early.

Young power hitter Harry Tector top-scored with his 45 runs knock that came from 42 balls including 2 fours and 1 six. Both the batters took the Irish side to a respected total.

A combined bowling effort from Sri Lanka restricts Ireland to 128/8 in the third match of the Super 12.

Sri Lanka bowlers did a great job for their side as all the bowlers went economically and succeeded. Spinners Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga were the leaders of the chart.

Theekshana grabbed 2/19 and Hasaranga scalped 2/25. Binura, Lahiru, Chamika, and Di Silva clinched one-one wicket each.
