AFG vs SL: Sri Lankan batters put their side in a good position in T20 World Cup after the team won their match against Afghanistan by 6 wickets.

The Lankan team came to chase a low total of 144 which they were able to trench in the second last over of the match. Dhananjaya De Silva scorched the opponents with his unbeaten 66-run knock that came off in 42 deliveries, including 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Kusal Mendis (25), Charith Asalanka (19), and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (18) also got runs from their bat for the Lankan team.

When it comes to bowling, Afghanistan has one of the best bowling attacks in this shortest format of the game but today was Sri Lanka's day as they kept Afghan bowlers under the radar.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman grabbed 2/24 and star bowler Rashid Khan took 2/31. But the rest of the bowlers went wicketless and also spent a lot of runs.     

Earlier in the first inning, Sri Lanka was called to bowl first after Afghanistan won the toss. Sri Lankan bowlers put down Afghanistan to 144/8 in a crucial fixture here at The Gabba. 

Pacer Lahiru Kumara started his hard-hitting bowling and scalped 2/30. All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga bowled well in this match as he bowled at an economy of 3.25 and struck 3 wickets by giving just 14 runs in 4 overs.

Apart from them Kasun Rajitha and Dhananjaya de Silva also took one-one wickets to their account.

Afghanistan's batting started well with Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Usman Ghani's 42 runs opening wicket partnership. In this Gurbaz scored 28 on 24 balls with 2 sixes and 2 fours. Ghani got 27 of 27 from his bat with 2 fours and one six.

Ibrahim Zadran got the third-highest runs for the team as he scored 22 runs.
