South Africa Beat India By 5 Wickets In Super 12 Match; Move To Top Of Group 2 Points Table

With this win, South Africa have moved to the top of the Group 2 points table while Pakistan have been virtually eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals race.

IND vs SA T20 World Cup 2022: David Miller and Aiden Markram struck fifties as South Africa defeated India by 5 wickets in the Super 12 match of T20 World Cup 2022. With this win, South Africa have moved to the top of the Group 2 points table while Pakistan have been virtually eliminated from the semi-finals race. 

Chasing just 134 runs to win, South Africa lost their top 3 cheaply inside the powerplay. While Quinton de Kock (1) and in-form batter Rilee Rossouw (0) were dismissed in the 2nd over by Arshdeep Singh, captain Temba Bavuma was dismissed after a 15-ball-10 by Shami in the 6th over.

Batting at #4, Aiden Markram held the crease responsibly as he etched a partnership of 76 runs for the 4th wicket with David Miller. Markram was dismissed by Hardik Pandya in the 16th over after scoring 52 runs off 41 balls with 6 fours & a six. 

David Miller on the other side held the crease with his unbeaten 59 runs off 46 balls (4x4, 6x3) as South Africa chased down the target in 19.4 overs, winning the match by 5 wickets. For India, Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets while Mohammed Shami, Pandya and Ashwin managed 1 wicket each.

In the first innings, South African bowlers wreaked havoc on the Indian batting lineup, while Suryakumar Yadav played the lone warrior with a half-century as India managed 133/9 against South Africa in the Super 12 match of T20 World Cup 2022. 

India lost both openers – Rohit Sharma (15) and KL Rahul (9) in the 5th over, as Lungi Ngidi drew first blood. Virat Kohli (12) was then dismissed by Lungi Ngidi and two wickets later, India were at 49/5. 

From thereon, Suryakumar and Dinesh Karthik etched a partnership of 52 runs off 40 balls for the 6th wicket, where Dinesh contributed with just 6 runs. Suryakumar went on till the 19th over as he scored 68 runs off 40 balls with 6 fours & 3 sixes. 

For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi picked up 4 wickets while Wayne Parnell grabbed 3 wickets. Anrich Nortje also managed a wicket. 

Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss & opted to bat first against South Africa in the Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup 2022. This match is being played in Perth Stadium, Perth.
