T20 World Cup: In the group 1 match of the T20 World Cup 2022, England defeated New Zealand by 20 runs. With this result, things have become tougher in the 'Group of Death', where New Zealand, England and Australia are all in the hunt for a semi-finals spot in T20 World Cup 2022.
Chasing 180 to win, New Zealand lost openers Devon Conway (3) and Finn Allen (16) inside the powerplay. From there, man-in-form Glenn Phillips and captain Kane Williamson held the crease as these two etched a partnership of 91 runs in 59 balls for the 3rd wicket.
The partnership was finally broken by Ben Stokes as the Kiwi captain departed in the 15th over after scoring 40 runs off 40 balls with 3 fours. Glenn carried on at the other end but Sam Curran and Mark Wood grabbed two quick wickets in the 16th and 17th overs.
