South Africa T20 League Auction: On September 19th (Monday), all six SA 20 franchises - MI Cape Town, Durban's Super Giants, JoBurg Super Kings, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and SunRisers Eastern Cape formed their squad for the SA 20 League to be held in January 2023. 22-year-old Tristan Stubbs was the most expensive buy in the auction, going for R 9.2 million to SunRisers Eastern Cape.
A total of 314 players went under the hammer in the auction for the inaugural season of South Africa's SA 20 league. The action-packed bidding comprising of all six teams saw some players receiving aggressive bidding wars, while big names like Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma went unsold.
The costliest buy in this auction was the young right-handed batter Tristan Stubbs, attracting a bid of R 9.1 million. Stubbs, who's a part of Mumbai Indians in the IPL, saw an aggressive bidding war between MI Cape Town and JoBurg Super Kings for the big hitter. MI Cape Town bid up to R 7 million, but the player was eventually acquired by SunRisers Eastern Cape.
