Injured Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the remaining white-ball matches in Pakistan and he will join his IPL franchise Delhi Capitals in Mumbai to continue his recovery.

The 30-year-old, who was bought for Rs 6.5 crore by the Capitals in the IPL mega auction last month, had picked a hip flexor injury a day before the opening ODI and was initially ruled out of the first game only, which Australia won by 88 runs in Lahore on Tuesday.

Former Australia and current New South Wales physiotherapist Patrick Farhart, who has been with Capitals since the 2020 IPL season, will manage Marsh's recovery after the all-rounder finishes his quarantine on arrival in India, an ESPNcricinfo report said.

"Being able to focus on my recovery without the travel and isolation break is the best approach. I am disappointed to miss the Pakistan series but look forward to re-joining the Australian squad for our next tour," Marsh said in a Cricket Australia statement on Wednesday.

The star all-rounder was originally set to miss Delhi's first three games anyway in the IPL 2022 for being part of Australia's white-ball squad for the tour in Pakistan which is scheduled to end on April 5. But now his arrival in India will boost Capitals, who had only two of their seven overseas players available for their opening game against Mumbai Indians, which they won by four wickets.

Notably, Marsh will be the second Delhi Capitals player, after Anrich Nortje, to continue his rehab in the Capitals squad. The Rishabh Pant-led Capitals are still waiting for Nortje to complete his rehab and regain match fitness. However, they will have fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Mustafizur Rahman available for their next match on Saturday as they have completed their quarantine.

Opener David Warner will be Capitals' last overseas player to join them. The batter will miss their second game too as he had to fly back to Australia from Pakistan after the Test series.
