Pandya & Jadeja Guide India To 5 Wicket Win Against Pakistan In A Thriller

Hardik Pandya was the hero of the match as he picked up 3 wickets with the ball and then smacked an unbeaten 33 runs to take India across the winning line against Pakistan.

IND vs PAK: In a thriller India vs Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2022, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya guided India to a 5-wicket win against Pakistan. Jadeja showed composed batting while Hardik produced an all-round performance to help India win against arch-rivals Pakistan. 

Chasing a target of 148, India lost their first wicket in the form of opener KL Rahul for a golden duck. Rohit Sharma (12) then etched a partnership of 49 runs with Virat Kohli for the second wicket, before the former was dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz in the 8th over.

Virat Kohli was dismissed in the 10th over by the same bowler after scoring 35 runs off 34 balls. Suryakumar Yadav (18) was the next to be dismissed in the 15th over by Naseem Shah as well. 

India were in a spot of bother but then Ravindra Jadeja (35) and Hardik Pandya etched a partnership of 52 runs off 29 balls for the 5th wicket. Jadeja was then dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz on the first delivery of the last over, where India required 7 runs to win off 6 balls. But Hardik Pandya maintained his composure as he smacked a six off the 5th delivery to take the win for team India.

After picking three wickets with the balls, Hardik scored an unbeaten 33 runs off 17 balls with 4 fours & a six. For Pakistan, Nawaz picked up 3 wickets while Naseem managed 2 wickets. In the first innings, Courtesy of brilliant bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Hardik Pandya as well as an excellent performance from other bowlers, India were able to restrict arch-rivals Pakistan to 147/10 in 19.5 overs. 

Bhvuneshwar Kumar provided the first wicket in the form of Pakistan captain Babar Azam (10) in the 3rd over. Fakhar Zaman (10) was next to be dismissed in the 6th over as Avesh Khan got him caught out behind the stumps by Dinesh Karthik. 

However, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed etched a partnership of 45 runs in 38 balls for the third wicket. Hardik Pandya broke through this partnership as he dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed (28) in the 13th over. In the 15th over, Hardik send back Rizwan (43) who remained the top scorer for the Pakistan team. 

For India, Bhvuneshwar Kumar picked up 4 wickets while Hardik Pandya grabbed three important wickets. Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets while Avesh Khan managed 1 wicket. India now needed 148 runs in 20 overs to win their first match in this year's Asia Cup tournament.

Earlier, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss & opted to bowl first against Pakistan in the 2nd match of Asia Cup 2022. This match was played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
