In an attempt to finish the IPL 2022 points table in the second position, Rajasthan Royals got successful as they defeated Chennai Super Kings by five wickets. Despite a stellar Moeen Ali inning of 93 runs from 57 balls, CSK could only manage 150 in the first inning. RR took things to the last over to complete the run chase and secure the 2nd spot. R Ashwin was the hero for Rajasthan as he not only bowled an economical spell of 1/28 but finished the game with his 23-ball 40.

Rajasthan Royals finished at the second spot with 18 points in 14 games and will play qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans. RR's win meant Lucknow Super Giants slipped to the third spot due to lesser NRR.

Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings have been knocked out of the tournament even though SRH and PBKS have still one match left to play.

The battle is now between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals for the final spot. RCB have 16 points in 14 games but a negative NRR. If DC, on 14 points in 13 games, manage to defeat MI today, they will qualify for the playoffs due to a superior NRR than RCB.
