Australian men's cricket team's head coach, Justin Langer has resigned from his post. Cricket Australia has clarified the same through a press release on February 5th (Saturday). After a long meeting with the officials, Langer submitted his resignation which was accepted.
Cricket Australia revealed that they had offered Langer to extend his tenure till the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, but Langer refused. It is noteworthy that CA's contract with Justin Langer is valid till June. After the ball-tampering incident in 2018, Justin Langer was made the head coach of the Australian team, replacing Darren Lehmann.
After accepting Langer's resignation, CA has named Andrew McDonald as the interim head coach. McDonald has impressed CA with his performance as a coach in the domestic circuit and has also been the coach of IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.
