IPL 2021: Iyer Guides Delhi In A Low Scoring Thriller Against Mumbai

Shreyas Iyer's 33 guided Delhi Capitals to a four-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in a low-scoring thriller in Sharjah on Saturday. 

Chasing a target of 130, DC was in all sorts of trouble after being reduced to 3/30 in the first four overs, losing both openers -Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw - and Steve Smith. 

Rishabh Pant tried to play the counter-attacking innings and scored 26 off 22 with the help of three fours and a six. However, in eighth over, he too got out. Axar Patel stitched a 20-run stand with Shreyas Iyer but got out as well. Shimron Hetmyer hit 15 from eight balls. 

DC once again looked in a spot bother, but at one end, Shreyas Iyer was still there at the crease. R Ashwin stuck with Iyer and guided Delhi to a six-wicket win, and pushed Mumbai to the verge of elimination from IPL 2021.

Earlier, MI was asked to bat first and lost Rohit Sharma early. Mumbai could only make 35 inside the powerplay. Quinton de Kock's inconsistent run continued as he got out in the seventh over. 

Suryakumar Yadav, who wasn't among the runs coming into this match, smashed two sixes and two fours to make 33 before Axar Patel removed him. 

DC's disciplined bowling kept the pressure as MI failed to stitch any partnership and struggled its way to 129/8 in the first innings.
