India defeated Derbyshire County Club by seven-wickets after Deepak Hooda's scorching 59 runs of 37 balls in the practice match of India's ongoing England tour.
Hooda after an amazing Ireland tour, kept himself in touch against Derbyshire where he lofted five fours and two sixes. He was supported by Suryakumar Yadav who remained not out by scoring 36 runs of 22 balls, striking 4 fours and one six.
Earlier, Dinesh Karthik, who led the Indian side for the first time, won the toss and decided to ball first against the home side. Indian bowlers proved his decision correct as Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik struck two wickets each, while Venkatesh Iyer and Axar Patel took one wicket each.
Derbyshire had a poor start opening batsmen Shan Masood (3) and Lewis Rees (1) were dismissed cheaply and returned to the pavilion. Wayne Madsen top scored with 28 runs. Apart from this, Hilton Cartwright scored 27 runs, Alex Hughes scored 24 runs and Brooke Guest scored 23 runs. Due to which Derbyshire scored 150 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
