India Beat Hong Kong By 40 Runs; Advance To Super Four Stage Of Asia Cup 2022

India have become the second team to qualify for the Super Four stage in Asia Cup 2022 after remaining at top of Group A with two wins.

Asia Cup 2022: In the 4th match of the Asia Cup, team India registered a 40-run win against Hong Kong to proceed to the Super Four stage after winning both their matches in group A. As many as four bowlers picked up a wicket each for India as Hong Kong were halted to _ in 20 overs. 

Chasing a target of 193, Hong Kong lost opener Yasim Murtaza (9) in the 2nd over. After that, Nizakat Khan and Babar Hayat etched a partnership of 39 runs in 25 balls for the 2nd wicket before Jadeja's rocket throw got rid of captain Nizakat Khan (10).

Babar Hayat (41), the top scorer for his team, was the next to be dismissed after he etched a partnership of 23 runs with Kinchan Shah. While picking up wickets at fairly regular intervals, Indian bowlers didn't let the run rate get out of control and went on to register an easy win. Team India are now the second team to qualify for Super Four after Afghanistan confirmed their berth the day before. 

For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Avesh Khan picked up 1 wicket each. In the first innings, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav scored contrasting half-centuries as India posted 192/2 in 20 overs against Hong Kong in the 4th match of Asia Cup 2022.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed after scoring 21 runs off 13 balls, while KL Rahul spent some time out in the middle. However, he made a scratchy 36 runs off 39 balls before spinner Mohammad Ghazanfar got the better of him. 

Indian batters had trouble scoring runs against Hong Kong spinners, who were bowling really slow, which ultimately got better off KL Rahul. However, Virat Kohli stayed at the crease and ensured team India reached a good total. 

Thereon, Virat Kohli & Suryakumar Yadav etched an unbroken partnership of 98 runs in just 42 balls for the 3rd wicket, where SKY was the main aggressor and smacked Hong Kong bowlers in style. Suryakumar scored an unbeaten 68 runs off just 26 balls with 6 fours & 6 sixes. Virat Kohli also played a stabilizing knock as he remained unbeaten on 59 runs in 44 balls with 1 four & 3 sixes.

For Hong Kong, Ayush Shukla and Mohammad Ghazanfar picked up 1 wicket each. Earlier, Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan won the toss & opted to bowl first against India in the 4th match of Asia Cup 2022. This match is being played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
