Chasing the below-par target of 100 runs in a twirling track, Indian batters struggled to middle the bowl with the bat and lost wickets at regular intervals but finally, the hoke team felt relaxed as their best batter Suryakumar Yadav along with skipper Hardik Pandya finished the game.

Initially, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan opened Indian innings. Gill played some good shots but was sent back to the pavilion early by Bracewell when he has at 11 runs.

India went firm after Shubman Gill departed, Ishan Kishan (19) and Rahul Tripathi (13) were looking good but soon lost their rhythm and left the crease in a hurry while India still needed 50 runs to win.

The Kiwi spinners did not leave the game and pushed their team hard to get back into the match. Michael Bracewell (1/13) and Ish Sodhi (1/24) bowled well and Indian batsmen were forced to make mistakes by this duo.

Earlier in the match, after winning the toss, the Kiwi team led by Mitchell Santner decided to bat first but his decision was more welcomed by the Indian bowling attack led by Arshdeep Singh who bowled just 2 overs and got 2 wickets by giving just 3 runs.

Overall, a combined bowling effort from team India thwarts New Zealand to 99/8 in the second T20I of the three-match series here at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.

Apart from Arshdeep, skipper Hardik Pandya, Sundar, Chahal, Hooda, and Kuldeep Yadav also put down one-one wicket each.

The New Zealand batting pushed themselves hard but couldn't able to overcome the ferocious Indian bowling. Mitchell Santner (unbeaten 20) got the highest individual score for the team.

The rest of the batters could not read the wicket and quickly lost wickets. The second-best score was made by Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell who scored 14 runs each.

The series is now scored leveled 1-1 and the decided match will be played on February 1 at Ahmedabad.
